Marquetry – Introduction – Spring Term

COURSE OVERVIEW

An introduction into the historical wood craft of marquetry. Learn the traditional knife cutting technique to create your own contemporary artwork panel.

Topics covered: The history of marquetry, how to cut veneers using the knife cut technique, how to design you own marquetry artwork, transferring your design to veneer, learn to assemble and glue marquetry, together with sanding and polishing marquetry.

By the end of the course you will be able to design and make your own marquetry artwork.

Tutor: Amber Bailey. This course runs on a Wednesday evening 1830-2030.
