This course is for school leavers (with the appropriate GCSE profile) looking to start a career in the electrical industry, or those learners progressing from a Level 1 qualification. It will expand your technical knowledge of both practical & theory, problem-solving and developing hand skills.
- Install and test electrical circuits using industry-standard methods.
- Apply electrical science and principles to installation work.
- Understand wiring regulations and safe working practices.
- Inspect, test and fault-find on electrical installations.
- Develop skills for progression into industry or further study.
On successful completion, you can progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations, an electrical apprenticeship or related construction qualifications. The course provides the knowledge and practical skills needed to move towards a career as an electrician or within the wider building services sector.
You will learn through a combination of classroom lessons and practical workshop sessions in industry-standard facilities. Experienced tutors will support you in developing both technical knowledge and hands-on skills. Assessment includes online and written exams, practical assessments, assignments and tutor observations throughout the course.
Students will need steel toe-capped safety boots, coloured pens and pencils, an A4 ring-bound notepad, a copy of the current Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) book and the On-Site Guide. These resources will support learning in both the classroom and workshop throughout the course.
