COURSE OVERVIEW
This hands-on DIY at Home course is ideal for anyone who would like to learn DIY skills to perform small maintenance tasks within their home. You will learn some of the fundamental joinery skills so that you can confidently tackle a range of tasks around the house including:
- Building your toolkit
- Health and safety -; the basics
- Hanging pictures
- Repairing holes
- Hanging shelves
- Changing cupboard door alignments
- Using power tools
- Drilling into external walls
- Hanging curtain rails
- Small repair jobs
- Tiling basics
This is a 5 week course on a Tuesday evening. The next course is:

After completing this course you can proceed onto the DIY Next Steps course which is due to start in January 2026. Please see the website for further details. We offer a range of part time Construction courses.
There is no formal assessment for the completion of this course.
However, there is continuous workshop assessment based on Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA).

Please bring with you a pair of Steel toe cap boots to wear during Practical session.
