ESOL 16+ Full Time
COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is ideal if English is not your first language, you are living in the UK and want to improve your English to continue your studies and improve your future opportunities in this country.
The course concentrates on developing the three main skills in English (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening), the knowledge of Grammar and Vocabulary, and Life in the UK.
For people aged between 16-18, Maths is also an compulsory part of the course. However, this is optional for adults and subject to their level of English and existing qualifications.
We will also help you with your independent study, employability and communication skills, and future career opportunities.
We have a range of courses to suit all learners, ranging from Entry 1 to Level 2.
FURTHER INFORMATION
Apply here if you are 16-18 on the 1st September or if you are an adult and want to study full-time (4 days a week). There is another course designed for adults wanting to study part-time.
You will then be contacted with a date and time to come in for an assessment session. The assessment will take approximately 2 hours. We will test your speaking and listening, reading and writing skills. This is to help us place you on the correct level for the start of your course. You may be required to change levels if we find after initial assessments, a different level of English is more suited to your needs.
Our ESOL courses will help you to:
- Gain a nationally recognised ESOL qualification and certificate
- Progress onto jobseekers courses or other vocational courses in the College
- Develop your employability skills
- Develop your digital and maths skills
- Give you extra support if you are a refugee / asylum seeker
- Help you to make friends through enrichment activities
- Get advice about education and training opportunities
You will study for a different award each term:
- Speaking and Listening (term 1),
- Reading (term 2)
- Writing (term3).
Each separate award is assessed by an exam at the end of the term. You will progress to the next award after successful completion of the one before.
