COURSE OVERVIEW
Introduction to Coding – Python
Are you ready to take your first step into the world of coding? Our Introduction to Coding – Python course is designed to equip you with the fundamental skills needed to begin your programming journey. Whether you’re an aspiring software developer or simply curious about coding, this 10-week course will introduce you to the essential building blocks of Python, one of the most widely used programming languages today.
What Will You Learn?
Throughout the course, you’ll develop hands-on coding skills and gain an understanding of key programming concepts, including:
- Setting up and using Python environments
- Writing and running your first program (“Hello World”)
- Understanding and using different data types (strings, integers, floats, and booleans)
- Writing conditional statements using if and elif
- Working with loops (while and for loops)
- Combining all skills into a final coding project
You’ll also gain insights into how Python is used in the industry, preparing you for further study in coding or a career in technology.

Your course tutor will be able to discuss further courses available at the MET
Assessment in this course is practical and skills-based, focusing on your ability to write and understand Python code. You will be assessed through:
- Weekly coding exercises and worksheets
- Hands-on programming tasks and worked examples
- A final coding project, applying everything you’ve learned
- Participation in discussions and reflections on coding concepts
By the end of the course, you’;ll have built a solid foundation in Python programming and be ready to progress to more advanced coding courses, such as C#.
