Brighton MET student artwork selected for prestigious exhibition
A Brighton MET student has been selected to exhibit their work at Origins Creatives 2024
Amelie Mayne, a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Practice – Fashion Design & Business student at Brighton MET College, will see her work on display at the Mall Galleries in July, is a free exhibition organised by UAL Awarding Body, which offers a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts, critics, and industry professionals in the creative sector to discover new original talent.
Amelie said: “My concept explores an alien-like merging of a human organism with machinery. My initial interests were studying inhuman life forms, ranging from artificially intelligent robotics to extraterrestrials.
“This developed into my core aim of fusing cybernetics with metamorphosis by creating my interpretation of alien-like skin. I was heavily inspired by the process of change during physical movement, so I constructed my garment to appear fluid.
“The next step for me to achieve my career prospect is to study fashion design and technology at university, specialising in womenswear. My goal is to become the creative director of my own fashion label in the future.”
The exhibition highlights the exceptional work of students from centres across the UK, showcasing their talent across a wide range of subjects.
Georgina Hooper, Deputy Head of Learning for Creative Industries at Brighton MET, said “We are absolutely thrilled that Amelie has been selected to exhibit in Origins, her work is a real celebration of her ambition, drive and creativity.
“It has been a privilege to see the creative journey Amelie has gone on this year throughout her course. Being selected for this show is a real testament of her hard work, and the bright creative future that lies ahead for her!”
Paul Riley, Principal of Brighton MET College, added: “Amelie’s selection for the Origins Creatives 2024 exhibition is a proud moment for Brighton MET College. It highlights the incredible skill and dedication she has demonstrated in her work.
