Fashion, Film and Flair as Brighton MET Hosts Annual Showcase Extravaganza

23 June 2026

The future of creativity was on display as Brighton MET College hosted its annual MET Fest Creative Industries Showcase opening for 2026.

The College’s Pelham campus had been packed full of stunning student work, showcasing the wide array of talent present across the college’s creative industries courses.

Local Samba Reggae Funk band Barulho also performed a selection of inspiring and upbeat numbers, blending Afro-Cuban and South American traditional forms with contemporary funk, hip hop and drum & bass.

There were ten different exhibits on display for select visitors, which included work from photography, fine art, art and design, visual merchandising and styling, fashion and business, fashion and textiles, illustration and graphic communication students.

Student work was really put at the forefront, with even the poster to promote the exhibition being designed by one of the college’s very own graphic design students, Luca Reece.

Luca entered a design competition, which was open to all graphic design students. When asked to elaborate on his design, he said:

“I wanted to condense that form of celebration, so I started mind mapping, looking into what symbolises celebration, and I felt that the hands clapping together was a really cool idea.

“I didn’t realise how much work it would mean, but I’ve loved every minute, and it’s cool to see it actually be used in the real world.”

When asked if he would like to thank anyone, he said:
“Mary (lecturer), you’ve been amazing, so thank you so much, and my classmates too. It’s the people around you that help shape your work, and I felt that was very much the case.”

Georgina Hooper, Head of Learning for Creative Industries at Brighton MET, added:
“It’s a huge celebration. So, it celebrates the work of about 500 students in total, ranging from level one to three, in our art foundation, who are post A-level, and it’s a really nice opportunity for them to come together.

” The reason we put on events like this is because we’re in the heart of Brighton and at the heart of the community, we do so much with the community, and it’s an opportunity for the students to have that presence and stand really proud on a pedestal and a platform.

“Their work is of industry standard, and it’s just such a wonderful thing to be able to invite friends and family and community in to see their work.”

The showcase is now open 10am to 4pm daily, up until 26 June 2026.
