Hello Future 2023

Brighton MET was buzzing with activity this week as hundreds of students from across Sussex had the opportunity to meet representatives from the local business community at Hello Future 2023. 

This exciting event took place during National Careers Week and included workshops, virtual panel sessions, and an extensive Skills Fair with over 40 stands. Students from a range of local colleges engaged in conversations with industry experts as well as career advisers about the world of work, apprenticeships, T Levels, volunteering, and graduate programmes. 

The Hello Future initiative was led by Coast to Capital Careers Hub, The Careers & Enterprise Company, in collaboration with American Express and Brighton & Hove City Council. American Express colleagues were involved in supporting the logistics of the day, hosting workshops and an online Q&A, as well as participating in the Skills Fair to showcase a variety of career pathways at the company.

We were lucky enough to have the event officially opened by the Mayor of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Lizzie Deane, who said: “The response from local businesses to come along and participate in this event has been incredible, and it demonstrates just how committed our local business community is to supporting the next generation.”  

There was a fantastic atmosphere in the event hall as students chatted with a wide range of organisations and businesses from across the local community including Brighton Chamber of Commerce, Southern Water, Bespoke Training Solutions, Armed Forces, The Grand Hotel, Rolls-Royce and many more. Colleges and schools from across the region were invited to attend, including 1500 of our own student body. 

It was wonderful to see so many young people enthusiastic about their education and careers. We hope everyone who attended came away with plenty of information, advice and guidance about their future.
