The AAT Level 4 Diploma for Professional Accounting Technicians (L4PAT) launched in September 2026, featuring five mandatory units, fully computer-marked assessments, and a focus on real-world finance skills.
The new Level 4 qualification, L4PAT, replaces the Q2022 Level 4 Diploma and is designed to reflect the realities of modern finance roles, embedding practical, work-relevant tasks throughout.
This course is for those students who have successfully achieved an AAT Level 3 qualification and are looking to pursue senior accountancy positions, specialising in areas such as tax or management accounting, or to continue with professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, or ACA.
After completing AAT Level 4, you can pursue senior accounting roles, and could specialise in areas such as tax or management accounting, or continue with further studies toward professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, or ACA.

All units are assessed independently, and each contributes to the overall qualification grade. The passing mark per unit remains 70%, with overall grades of Pass, Merit, or Distinction. 100% computer-marked exams for all units, providing results within 24 hours after quality assurance.
If exam retake is required, an additional £75 exam fee needs to be paid by the student.
