The level 3 Counselling skills and Theory course is an 80 hour course, which we run at the college every term. There is an expectation that you will already have been introduced to the Person Centred Approach both theoretically and practically in triads and skills practice sessions. We also need you to have some experience using basic listening skills and counselling skills as either part of your level 2 course or any work experience.
On the level 3 you will be introduced to a variety of different theories some Humanistic and some Psychodynamic. Your skills practice will be extended as you work with same ‘client’; over a period of 3 or 4 sessions. We also delve into the experience of process and explore how we as individuals are in relationship with each other and the therapeutic use of self in the counselling room.
We cover a lot on this course -; Its a real opportunity to experience what the professional courses are like and to choose which direction to go next with lots of signposting and explaining of a complicated next step process.
