COURSE OVERVIEW
The fitness industry is an ever-expanding sector and there is a range of careers available including personal training or gym instructing. To succeed in these areas you will need to be certified, and this course offers a recognised qualification that employers trust.
It is likely that this will be a hybrid learning experience, with 2 days in college and some time for directed study on a third day. The pattern will be discussed at interview.
FURTHER INFORMATION
This course is challenging with 12 units to pass so you must be motivated and passionate to join.
You need to display experience from the sport and fitness world, whether this is with experience or a prior relevant qualification.
English and Maths GCSE at Pass / Grade 4 is desirable.
Upon completion of the CIMSPA recognised qualification you will be able to step into the gym instructing world.
Most students end up finding part time work in a gym or fitness setting during the course and then continue with this once qualified.
Students could also consider completing the Level 3 certificate/Diploma in Sports Coaching to gain enough UCAS points to apply for University.
You will be assessed throughout your course via practical activity observations, academic coursework and industry placements.
Assessments are based around ‘real-life’; projects and industry or workplace scenarios including work experience.
You will have opportunity to run our college gym, providing inductions and monitoring the area to make sure students are safe and on the correct gym programs.
Your final grade will be awarded as pass if you have achieved key performance criteria.
