VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Makeup

COURSE OVERVIEW

The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Make-up is a qualification that has been specifically designed to enable you to learn both aspects of hairdressing and media make-up.

Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge and understanding of each unit including health and safety for all services.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in both hairdressing and media make-up to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to perform your own salon services.

Units that you will be studying include:

  • Follow health and safety practice in the salon
  • Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
  • Apply make-up
  • The art of photographic make-up
  • The art of dressing hair
  • Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector
  • Themed face painting
  • Design and apply Mendhi skin decoration
  • Body art design
  • Plaiting and twisting hair
  • Make & style a hair addition

Students who have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade 4 or above in English and Maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their main programme.

We will also support you, to find a work placement to increase your confidence and employability. It is a mandatory requirement to complete a minimum of 38 hours work experience as part of your programme of study

FURTHER INFORMATION

Age 16-18 Years

You must have a minimum of 3 x GCSEs at grade 3 or above – to include Maths, English and Science

A friendly mature attitude, good communication skills, punctuality and impeccable attendance, as well as taking pride in your personal appearance.

If English is not your first language, then you should have achieved a minimum of Level 1 in English reading, writing and listening.

An interview is required for this course.

We require a minimum of 95% attendance, so please ensure that you can commit to the course days/times prior to accepting any offers.

You must show commitment and flexibility as due to exams, department trips and training days, timetable changes may occur.

Age 19+

Grade 4 (C) or equivalent in GCSE English, Maths and Science is desirable, but not essential.
