Creative Media | UAL Diploma in Media Level 1

Whether you are interested in becoming a games designer, 3D modeller, web designer, photographer or filmmaker, this could be the first step towards an exciting career in the creative industries.

You will discover a wide range of technologies, with opportunities to realise your individual interests through a programme of projects, preparing you to move on to higher levels of study in creative media, games design, film, art &design or photography.

Industry-based projects and work experience opportunities are part of each course curriculum, enabling you to develop the skills to progress to a career in the creative industries with the confidence to thrive.

Our digital arts facilities are top-of-the-range and include two computer suites with Apple Mac computers using the latest professional creative software. We use broadcast video cameras, digital SLR cameras and industry standard animation software. The college also has Brighton’s cheapest art shop right here on campus.

To start at this level you need at least 2 GCSEs at grade 2 (F) or above, preferably including English and maths, and a portfolio of your creative work.
Your portfolio of work must show your interest and enthusiasm for the subject area. You may be expected to talk about a favourite artist or designer, a piece of art work which has inspired you, or how you have developed your ideas.
You will be required to bring sketch books, evidence of research and observational drawings, examples of developmental work, as well as some final pieces. We are also interested in looking at work you have completed in your own time, your hobbies and any work experience you have completed.
