COURSE OVERVIEW

*]:pointer-events-auto scroll-mt-(–header-height)”>

The Level 2 Production Chef Apprenticeship is designed for individuals who are already working as part of a team across a wide range of settings, including the private, public, and third sectors, and within organisations of all sizes e.g. high street restaurants, pub dining, schools, hospitals, care homes, the armed forces, workplace canteens, maritime catering. Apprentices typically operate in environments where recipes and menus are centrally developed and food is produced at scale. While day-to-day responsibilities may differ depending on the role, the core knowledge, skills, and behaviours required remain consistent across all positions.

This apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, professional environment.

As a Production Chef, you’;ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality dishes using carefully designed, standardised recipes and menus. Working with a combination of pre-prepared and fresh ingredients, you’;ll gain experience producing food efficiently:often at scale, while maintaining consistency and quality. In many settings, your work will have real impact, supporting the wellbeing of others by catering to specific dietary needs, including meals for children, patients, and elderly residents.

You’;ll be part of a collaborative kitchen team, working closely with front-of-house colleagues, suppliers, and sometimes customers. Guided by experienced chefs or kitchen managers, you’;ll build confidence in a structured and supportive environment.

This role is ideal for individuals who thrive under pressure and enjoy being part of a team. You’;ll develop strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work to tight deadlines. At the same time, you’;ll learn the importance of sustainability, food safety, and maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and health and safety.

If you’;re motivated, reliable, and passionate about food, this apprenticeship can help you build a solid foundation for a long-term career in the catering and hospitality industry, opening doors to progression and future opportunities in professional kitchens.
