COURSE OVERVIEW
This T-Level has been developed in collaboration with employers to ensure the content meets industry needs, preparing students for the workplace. The course combines classroom-based teaching and learning with ‘on-the-job’; experience, including at least 315 hours (approximately 45 days) of Industrial Placement.
About T-Level Digital Software Development
Software is all around us—not only in our computers, phones, and game consoles, but also in our cars, airplanes, and systems controlling power grids and national defence. With the Internet of Things connecting electronic devices everywhere, the importance of software will only continue to grow.
This course will prepare you for an exciting career in software development.
Coding is a key part of the course, but you will also learn other essential software engineering skills such as:
• Working with clients to determine their needs
• Designing systems that are user-friendly for all users
• Ensuring software is reliable and secure
• Collaborating in groups on projects
• Documenting your work for future maintenance
You will also gain knowledge of physical, virtual, and cloud digital environments, data analysis, and modelling across different platforms. Additionally, you will understand the importance of legal and regulatory requirements, industry standards, privacy, confidentiality, and how to manage threats and risks.
FURTHER INFORMATION
5 x GCSE’S at grade 4+, including Maths and English. NOTE: Completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service Application (DBS) may be required as you may undertake placements in digital setting that engage with vulnerable people or sensitive data. Age: You will need to be aged between 16 -; 18 at the start of the qualification. If you don’;t meet our entry requirements, we recommend our in-house one year Transition course COMPUTING AND DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES, OCR LEVEL 2 IN IT. This will help prepare you for the T Level in the subsequent year.
The T-Level ensures students have the knowledge and skills needed to progress into skilled employment or higher level technical training. Following the completion of the T level in Digital you may go on to: Skilled employment within the IT sector Higher Level apprenticeships at Level 4 and above which may progress you into careers such as a Software Developer. Higher education as UCAS points have been awarded to T Levels, they facilitate progression to Higher Education
The course is assessed through 2 Core Knowledge Module exams, an employer -set project and digital, design and development synoptic assessment.
