COURSE OVERVIEW

Shape Your Future in Tech with the Digital Support Services T Level at Brighton MET

If you’;re passionate about technology and want to turn that interest into a successful career, the Digital Support Services T Level at Brighton MET is the perfect starting point. This exciting two-year programme blends classroom learning with real-world industry experience to prepare you for a future in the fast-paced digital sector.

What You’;ll Learn

You’;ll build a strong foundation of technical knowledge and practical skills that employers are looking for, including:

  • Hardware and Systems: Learn how to build, maintain, and upgrade computer systems — the essential skills every technician needs.
  • Cybersecurity and Threats: Explore the world of digital security by learning how to identify potential cyber threats, understand how attacks happen, and apply practical strategies to keep systems, networks, and data safe.
  • Data and Business Insight: Discover how data is collected, managed, and used within organisations. You’;ll learn how digital systems support business operations and decision-making, helping you understand the wider impact of technology in the workplace.
  • Software and Testing: Develop your understanding of software systems and learn how to test and troubleshoot to ensure everything runs smoothly and reliably.
  • Problem Solving and Fault Analysis: Strengthen your logical thinking and learn how to identify, analyse, and fix technical issues efficiently.

Throughout the course, you’;ll also develop essential communication, teamwork, and professional behaviours — key employability skills that will help you stand out to future employers.

A Purpose-Built Digital Learning Environment

As a Digital Services T Level student, you’;ll study in our purpose-built digital classroom — designed to replicate a professional tech workspace.

  • The space features a segregated network, giving you the freedom to experiment, test, and simulate real-world IT environments safely.
  • You’;ll have access to a wide range of specialist equipment, including Raspberry Pis, Arduino kits, hardware components, and digital tools used by industry professionals.
  • This hands-on environment allows you to apply your learning practically, build confidence with industry-standard technology, and develop the technical problem-solving skills employers value.

Real Experience with Employers

You’;ll complete a minimum of 315 hours in an industry placement, giving you the opportunity to work alongside professionals, gain hands-on experience, and make valuable connections in the tech industry. Many of our students use this experience to secure apprenticeships or full-time roles after the course.

We also work closely with local employers and industry experts, helping you build your professional network while still in college.

FURTHER INFORMATION

This course is ideal for students aged 16-;18 who are curious about technology and want to develop the skills to thrive in a digital career.

You’;ll need five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths.

A GCSE in IT or Computer Science is preferred but not essential — if you have developed digital skills or knowledge through your own experience, projects, or personal interest, we’;ll take that into consideration.

Please note: you may be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, as some placements could involve working in environments that handle sensitive data or engage with vulnerable people.

This course is designed for students aged 16-;18 at the start of the qualification.

If you don’;t currently meet the entry requirements, we recommend starting with our one-year Transition course: Computing and Digital Technologies (OCR Level 2 in IT). This programme will help you develop the foundation and confidence needed to progress onto the Digital Services T Level the following year.
