Brighton MET hosts Southeast's Top IT Talent for WorldSkills UK Qualifiers
Brighton MET is proud to announce that the college will be hosting and taking part in the regional qualifier for the WorldSkills UK Network Infrastructure Technician competition on Monday, 9 June 2025.
The prestigious event, which will take place at the college’s Pelham campus, brings together aspiring IT professionals from colleges across the Southeast to showcase their computing skills, with a chance to progress to the national finals.
It will also see students from Brighton MET, including those on the T Level in Digital Support Services, take part in the competition, providing them with inspirational and industry-relevant experience.Â
Organised by WorldSkills UK, the competition aims to elevate standards in technical education and apprenticeships by providing a platform for young people to demonstrate their expertise in real-world scenarios.
On the day, students will take on a series of challenging tasks that test their abilities in configuring and managing complex network systems, which reflects the real demands of the modern IT industry.
This national qualifier is part of a UK-wide initiative to elevate technical education and apprenticeships. It offers a high-stakes, hands-on opportunity for participants to prove their skills under pressure, in an environment reflective of the workplace.
This event demonstrates the college’s broader dedication to driving digital innovation as a part of the Sussex and Surrey Institute of Technology (SSIoT) and its recent designation as a Centre of Digital Excellence.
This commitment is set to grow, with plans for Brighton MET to expand its digital education offer for 2025/26 with the introduction of the T Level in Digital Production, Design & Development (soon to be renamed Digital Software Development) and T Level in Media, Broadcast and Production.
