Creative Futures on the Runway: Brighton MET College Students Impress at Brighton Dome

9 October 2026

A variety of Brighton MET College’s finest Creative Industries students combined to show off their talents at this year’s Slow Fashion Week ‘Closing Flagship Day’.

Taking place on Saturday 26 September at the prestigious Brighton Dome, the event saw ethical fashion models, designers and creatives from across the area come together to show off a selection of sustainable fashion pieces as part of a runway show.

On the day, students took part in the opening ‘Slow Fashion Runway’, one of multiple runways put on throughout the day, which highlighted to visitors the next generation of sustainable fashion talent.

Organised by the Brighton Fashion Collective, the flagship show was part of a wider week of activities under the Slow Fashion Week umbrella, which saw a week’s worth of events designed to showcase creative action by highlighting sustainable alternatives to fast fashion.

Fast fashion is a business model that prioritises rapidly designed and produced low-cost items that imitate current trends. Whereas slow fashion promotes sustainability through buying fewer, high quality and ethically made garments that last longer.

Northbrook College BA Fashion students also wowed audiences, as they also took part in the showpiece event, holding their very own show, called ‘The Future Talent Runway’.

Martha Killick, Vice Principal of Brighton MET College, said:
“It is fabulous to see our students get truly stuck in and embrace this brilliant opportunity, allowing them to exhibit their work at a prestigious show on a runway.

“Events like this perfectly mirror the values we hold as part of our course and as a college more generally, and it was perfect to see so many talented students show their work on a stage as prestigious as the Brighton Dome.”
