COURSE OVERVIEW
Our exciting photography course is designed to give you the experience, practical skills and techniques in a wide range of styles that will enable you to bring your ideas to life in your photography.
Throughout the course you will be encouraged to experiment using a range of techniques and processes, including darkroom practices, photo sculpture, video and book design along with digital editing using Photoshop and Lightroom. Through both creative thinking and problem solving your study here will enable you to become a confident and knowledgeable photographer ready for either industry or university.
The course includes practical workshops and independent work, alongside historical and contextual study to develop critical thinking. A key feature of your study will be industry-based and collaborative projects, enabling you to develop the vocational skills and confidence to successfully progress within the creative industries.

- The Diploma is awarded on completion of Year 1 and the Extended Diploma on completion of Year 2
Course preparation: We will send you a summer project to submit on the first day of term.
FURTHER INFORMATION
You will need at least four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English, maths and a creative subject, plus a portfolio of your creative work. If you do not meet the entry requirements you may be offered a place on Level 2 Creative Media or Level 2 Art and Design.
After succewssfully completing year 1, you will progress onto your second year to gain the full Extended Diploma in Photography. After your second year, you will be ready to progress onto university or start your photography career.

Assessment is continuous through assignments and projects, some of which are set by employers and real clients. This will develop your industry skills and provides real-world experience. There are no exams on the UAL Diploma and Extended Diploma in Photography.
